lathrop corn maze

later when darkness fell, young drove us kids to the lathrop dell’osso farm (thanks, dad!) so we could do the corn maze at night. this maze is over 35 acres big and it changes every year. this year it was a tractor of pumpkins:

they give you a map, but it’s so easy to lose your place. we walked in circles a few times cause everything looked the same. sometimes the only way we could distinguish the new paths from the repeated paths was based seeing a familiar piece of trash on the ground or recognizing a hanging corn ear that young had gnawed on out of desperation (this was only about 20 minutes in). i’m pretty certain now that young is the guy who would be the first to eat people in a stranded situation.

anyway, one of the rewarding things about the maze is making it to one of the four elevated “bridges” which act as towers overlooking the maze and made it easier to plan your next path. the whole thing took about an hour to complete and it was fun.

a view from an elevated bridge. the larger version of this is better.

I think you’re legally required to call it a maize.
