Prime Cuts Schmaltz Liquor #3

Holy cow, it’s been a long time since i put one up. dude…HOLY COW. I have to call this episode that. I also decided that I’m not going to type up lame music adjectives describing what kind of music is on here because i always feel really stupid with all the music hyphenation i.e. post-punk, psych-rock, psych-folk, blah blahcetera. from now on i’m gonna be as cryptic as possible because if you heard past episodes and like em then you will trust me. no post-punk, psych-rock, garage-folk eyerolling music crit descriptors. if you must, this mix is strictly cow-rock. lordy, i swear sometimes the only motivation i have for these mixes is the fun i have when i put together the artwork. enjoy my primecuts cowcuts.

Episode #3: Holy Cow

file under: cow-rock, unrequited beef, sonic meat, religion
as per usual, you can subscribe on the left there and yes it is in the fancy m4a format which has track markers for your ipod for skipping and repeating and puts said track markers on cd when you burn in itunes. if that is too confusing, complain in the comments and i will upload a mp3 version. and yes i have posted that Clean song before, i just love it so.

Prime Cuts Schmaltz Liquor #2

Hi. I lied about saying I was going to throw up a new mix on the podcast once every two months. Cause it’s like a week after the last one. sorry for smothering your itunes if you already subscribed. i’ll update sporadically but not excessively and not too infrequently. I couldn’t resist a 60s mix though. This is an “enhanced” podcast in m4a format with changing album art during playback and track markers on your ipod for you to skip and rewind songs.

Episode #2: Paisley Gun Battle

file under: 60s garage, freakbeat, psychedelic rock
i don’t know why it never occurred to me to make a mix like this because i love this music. it’s about an hour long and i think it’s a good one cause i listened to make sure my levels were even and it made me want to get smashed.

Prime Cuts Schmaltz Liquor v.2

Hi I started a podcast. Basically going to be like the pirate radio program I had last year with all the random rockpsychgarageindiepostpunk stuff except without me talking between music telling you what I just played.

#1: Potluck Picnic

file under: music i would want to listen to for an entire summer
summer officially started last week and I wanted to compile an all-purpose summer mix that could be played for barbequeing with friends, road tripping, sitting at the park, etc. over an hour and a half of music from the ramones, the slits, can, kinks, serge gainsbourg, royal trux, and many more…

happy tuesday

I feel kind of gross today even though the last two nights were mellow. I am ready to be vice-free for the next few days.

Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday Fecal Face 5.5 Year Anniversary Show at 111 Minna. Lots of feel good art including this photo of a skinned skunk putting his “jacket” on the coat hanger in his little cave. It was so disturbing that I couldn’t stop looking at it. I ate a pot roast for dinner shortly after at Eddie Rickenbacker’s. It was the first time I have ever eaten a pot roast and it was okay, but I realized I was looking for something more like steak. Outside my window, there were women walking in underwear across the street inside the little clothing shop for some kind of photo shoot. I was surrounded by meat. Went back to 111 Minna, saw Mr. Porous Walker, shook his hand and gave him a button of a man making out with a sandwich. The next night, Mike and I went to see my friend Ross and Nick Catchdubs deejay at Milk. Lots of fun. Afterwards met up with my friend Kristy at some random party in the Mission. She was with my coworker and I had no idea that they were friends. So random! Found out my coworker is extra fun and am thinking I may break my personal rule of not having lunch with coworkers. Ran into Nick Catchdubs at the party as well. Again, so random. I go into the dancing room and there is some hippy dude in a shirt with giant $100 bills all over it dry thrusting at um, somebody well known in the local music scene, on the couch. Nick came in and started snapping away at the people dancing but the thrusting had already stopped. I told him he just missed some thrusting but he said he already got it. I check catchdubs.com today and indeed there it is. He is fast on the camera:

That moment would have been extra special if only one of them had a Porous designed “One Night Stand” card handy.

  • In other news, tune in tonight on West Add Radio at 7pm for another installment of Prime Cuts & Schmaltz Liquor

  • The Soulstrut record sale for Katrina Relief is still going on. Tell all yr. friends who are deejays & record collectors. So far over $10,000 has been raised and that amount is expected to double with still a lot of auctions active.
  • By now, you’ve probably heard of the Kanye West incident where he called out Bush live on network television. Well now FoxNews has reviewed his album. It’s hilariously transparent. You have to read it – it’s like they have never listened to a rap album before.
  • Porous Walker has asked me to make 3 wishes for his You Wish blog on Fecalface here.
